OTHER PROCEDURES

Private medical practice grants you the right to choose your doctor carefully and it allows us the time and resources necessary to bring you the highest quality service.

VAGINAL BIRTH

It is the most natural way of giving birth, however certain conditions must be met, such as having an adequately maternal pelvis, the baby having a normal size and the absence of any pathologies or conditions both inn the mother and the child that would require the need for a C-section.

Should these conditions not be met a vaginal birth could be dangerous to both mother and baby. For this type of birth we recommend the use of epidural analgesics in order to diminish the pain of labour.

CAESAREAN (C-SECTION)

It is the extraction of the baby through the lower abdominal wall by way of an incision. The incision itself is quite small and is done horizontally so that it might be concealed by pubic hair growth. This procedure is recommended for the benefit of the child, it also spares the mother the any vaginal and perineal trauma.

            Indications:

  • Cephalo-pelvic disproportion (either a large baby or a small pelvis)
  • Acute and chronic foetal suffering
  • Hypertension induced by the pregnancy or secondary eclampsia (convulsions)
  • Umbilical cord complications (knots, cord entanglement)
  • Preferential product obtained by intrauterine insemination, gamete transfer or in vitro.
  • Previous uterine surgery such as myomectomy.

What is Cerclage?

Cervical Cerclage is the binding of the cervix in order to prevent it from dilating (widening) and effacing (thinning) and thus causing a miscarriage or preterm birth.

What is a Myomectomy?

Be it open or laparoscopic, it is the removuml of solid masses that are formed in the uterine muscle tissue, which may cause bleeding, pain and infertility.

What is a Hysterectomy?

The removuml of the patient’s uterus when the organ presents conditions that cannot be treated otherwise. This procedure may be open (with visible scarring) or laparoscopic (less than 1 centimetre). We are of the very few in the country certified for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, a fact that guarantees our enormous capacity and experience in this type of procedure.

What is Testicular Aspiration?

It is the procedure prescribed to a patient suffering from Azoospermia (having no measurable count of sperm in semen). A needle is introduced into the epididymis and then the testicles in order to determine whether the patient harbours spermatozoa in these areas or not and offer the best handling of the reproductive tissue.

What is Tubal Reversal?

It is the reconnection of the fallopian tube sections that remain after a Tubal Ligation or having the fallopian tubes tied. It is a microsurgical procedure, administered thus for optimum results.

Some of the surgical procedures we offer:

  • Vaginal Birth
  • Casesarean
  • Myomectomy
  • Laparoscopy
  • Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
  • Tubal Reversal
  • Excisional biopsy of the breast
  • Testicular Aspiration
  • Cerclage
  • Dilatation and curettage of the uterus
